Bob Dylan's Prophetic Song

I'm not a Bob Dylan fan and I never really listened to any of his songs, but one day on the BBC I heard about this Picture Show made by Mark Edwards, a photographer who put together a series of images of human strife and misery around the world, which go along with Dylan's song "Hard Rain", try listening to it with the lyrics and you'll be stunned how it fortells how the end of the 20'th century as well as the 21st. is unfolding, it's pretty creepy how accurate it can get. Famine, War, Deforestation, Floods, Tsunamis:

Lyrics:

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, where have you been, my darling young one?
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains,
I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways,
I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests,
I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans,
I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard,
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard,
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my darling young one?
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it,
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin',
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin',
I saw a white ladder all covered with water,
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken,
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children,
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard,
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son?
And what did you hear, my darling young one?
I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin',
Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world,
Heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin',
Heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin',
Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin',
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter,
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley,
And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard,
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling young one?
I met a young child beside a dead pony,
I met a white man who walked a black dog,
I met a young woman whose body was burning,
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow,
I met one man who was wounded in love,
I met another man who was wounded with hatred,
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard,
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

Oh, what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what'll you do now, my darling young one?
I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin',
I'll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest,
Where the people are many and their hands are all empty,
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters,
Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison,
Where the executioner's face is always well hidden,
Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten,
Where black is the color, where none is the number,
And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it,
And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it,
Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin',
But I'll know my song well before I start singin',
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard,
It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

i have a question that doesnt relate to your post here.. but i noticed you wrote about your experience with MS in a previous post and i had to ask some questions, if you dont mind.. is it inherited? i thought you cudnt inherit MS, but i heard relatives could carry it if they inherited similar immune systems.. is that correct? and is it true that the main trigger to MS is severe depression? And that senstive people who undergo sudden depression are more at risk of developing it? sry about the sudden long questions but im very interested.. o mashala you are very educated and strong.. you will get over it o allah ishafeek inshala ;)

dandoon: it's also sobering and creepy too isn't it? and I just never tried listening to Dylan before.

post: ofcourse I don't mind, sharing info was the whole point :)

from what I gathered so far, in the US for example they almost never see MS cases between siblings, while here in Kuwait (very small compared to the MS population in the world) there are many cases of brothers and sisters having MS together (Dr. Asmahan's words). so it's a mystery, no one says its hereditary, some say it might be related to some environmental issues, which might be shared by family members, because they all lived in the same surroundings. but who knows. but in the world in general, no one says its genetic.

and I don't know about depression being a cause, coz I never read that it can trigger it, I'll try to find out more about this. and I'll admit that I did face some serious problems a couple of years before I got the symptoms which caused major distress for me. but who knows, people face problems all the time.
but I can say that il7amdella I didn't go through any depression BECAUSE of MS after I learned of me having it. ilfathel lallah 6ab3an.

o thank you for your kind words and prayers :)

o Alla ykafeekom eshar.

if you're interested in that stuff (like that "picture show" link you provided) you should watch 11th Hour. im sure you've watched Al Gore's inconvenient truth but if you haven't then that's pretty interesting too.

AND last but most definately not least, Zeitgeist 1 and 2
(if you don't mind listening to a bit of religious bashing in the first part of 1 and the last part of 2)
Zeitgeist isnt completely environmental but people who are interested in that global kind of thing would probably be interested in it. (packed with action-filled conspiracy theories!!)
